Kant’s thought consists of many rooms. When you enter his richly furnished cabinet, which is called “Reading Instructions,” you immediately want to go to the “Originality” wing, where you can find a few very special texts. For example, the “Presumed Beginning of Human History”, a “journey of pleasure” that was completed at the end of October 1785 and published in January of the following year Berlin monthly magazine has been published. The focus is on an analysis of chapters two to six of Genesis. They are interpreted as an ensemble of stories that, according to Kant, can be understood as a continuous report on the incarnation of man. In his words: “It follows from this representation that the exit of man from the paradise that reason presented to him as the first abode of his species is no different than the transition from the brutality of a merely animal creature into humanity, from the chariot of instinct for the guidance of reason, in other words: from the tutelage of nature to the state of freedom.”
