She was going to celebrate her fourth birthday in a few days. A 3-year-old child was found lifeless in the family home, a house in the small town of Conches-en-Ouche west of Evreux (Eure). Her body was discovered during the night from Saturday to Sunday by firefighters called upon to place the girl in cardio-respiratory arrest. She could not be resuscitated.
The police were immediately alerted. The child’s body showed numerous bruises suggestive of blows received, reports Paris-Normandy.
Suspected of ill-treatment, the victim’s mother and stepfather were arrested and placed in police custody.
