Schalke stops the series of bankruptcies – HSV with a wild 3:3

Schalke can still win. The new coach Geraerts celebrates a successful home premiere. FC St. Pauli is top of the league thanks to a goal in the last minute. HSV saves a wild 3:3.
The struggling Bundesliga relegated FC Schalke 04 has its first win under the new coach Karel Geraerts once again sent a sporting sign of life.
The Royal Blues won against Hannover 96 3:2 (1:0) on the eleventh matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga and were 16th in the table. regained connection to the lower midfield of the table. Meanwhile, FC St. Pauli took back the top spot from Fortuna Düsseldorf with a goal in the last minute in a 2-1 (0-1) win against Karlsruher SC. Fortuna won 4-1 in Braunschweig on Friday.
In addition to Schalke, another Bundesliga relegated team was able to celebrate: Hertha BSC won against SC Paderborn 3-1 (2-0). Hamburger SV managed to win 3:3 (1:2) at 1. FC Kaiserslautern after being 3-1 down, but slipped to third place.
Schalke’s starting eleven changed to six positions
Bryan Lasme (42nd minute), Lino Tempelmann (72nd) and Kenan Karaman (77th) stopped Schalke’s series of bankruptcies, which had recently lost four times, with their goals against Hannover. The goals from Enzo Leopold (52nd) and Marcel Halstenberg from the penalty spot (90th) were not enough for 96.
Geraerts, who made six changes to the team after the 3-0 defeat in Karlsruhe, celebrated a successful home debut. “What I wanted to see was there. We played together as a team and helped each other. For me it’s a small step. The three points help us and give us a little self-confidence,” said Geraerts on Sky. With ten points, Schalke remain in the relegation place, but the next places are within reach again.
St. Pauli strikes late
At Hamburg’s Millerntor, Igor Matanovic, of all people, shocked the hosts with his opening goal shortly before half-time (43′). The 20-year-old had played for St. Pauli for 13 years until the summer and made his professional debut there. But the hosts showed morale and turned the game around through Johannes Eggestein and Philipp Treu (90th + 3). St. Pauli is now back ahead of Düsseldorf with 23 points.
City rivals HSV missed catching up with St. Pauli in the evening. Robert Glatzel’s brace (10th/65th) and Miro Muheim (73rd) secured Hamburg a point in a wild game on the Betzenberg. Boris Tomiak (13th), Marlon Ritter (24th) and Terrence Boyd (54th) scored for the Lauterers.
Hertha achieved its third home win of the season thanks to goals number eight and nine from Haris Tabakovic (11th and 55th) and the goal from Jonjoe Kenny (45th + 3). Florent Muslija had meanwhile shortened the game for Paderborn (47′). The Berliners ended the final phase outnumbered after the yellow-red card against Toni Leistner (86th).
