At the end of the 6th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, the visiting teams came away empty-handed. The home team prevailed in all three Sunday games. Once again there is a new front runner.

Holstein Kiel has a possible jump to the top of the 2nd. Significantly missed the Bundesliga.

In the 1:5 (0:3) loss at FC St. Pauli, coach Marcel Rapp’s team failed to prove they were a top team. After impressive goals from Connor Metcalfe (4th), Eric Smith (7th) and Oladapo Afolayan (30th), the previous table runners-up were already 3-0 down at the break and slipped to third place. Only after Lewis Holtby’s goal (50th) did hope arise briefly before Lars Ritzka (70th) and Marcel Hartel (90th + 4) removed all doubts about the deserved success of the “Kiez-Kicker”.

Fortuna at the top of the table

Fortuna Düsseldorf is the new league leader thanks to a 3-1 (2-1) win at Hansa Rostock on Saturday. Fortuna replaced Hamburger SV, who also lost for the first time this season on Saturday with a 1:2 (0:1) draw in Elversberg.

Hertha BSC managed to get out of the bottom of the table. With the 3-0 (2-0) win over Eintracht Braunschweig, the Bundesliga relegated team got the sporting answer it had hoped for to the spectacular 4-6 defeat against Magdeburg on the previous matchday. With three goals, Haris Tabakovic (38th/45th + 2/71st) became the match winner and helped his team to 15th place in the table.

Hanover wins Lower Saxony duel

In the third Sunday game, Hannover 96 won 7-0 (2-0) against the still winless bottom team from Osnabrück. Håvard Nielsen (21st/45th+1) paved the way to a deserved victory for the new fourth-placed team with a brace. Louis Schaub (58th), Cedric Teuchert (63rd/70th penalty), Derrick Köhn (77th) and Andreas Voglsammer (80th) scored after the break.
