HSV gives away the threesome, Schalke celebrates a lackluster success and Hertha remains pointless and goalless. The top teams are struggling in the second division.

The stuttering start of the top favorites in the 2. Soccer Bundesliga gives the underdogs the jump to the promotion places.

Hamburger SV missed their second win and the jump to the top of the table with a 2-2 win at Karlsruher SC in the last minute. “It’s just bitter and unbelievable that we give it away at the last second,” said Hamburg’s goalscorer Robert Glatzel.

17-year-old saves Nuremberg draw

The new leaders are FC Hansa Rostock (6 points) after beating newcomers SV Elversberg 2-1 in the 13th minute of added time ahead of Holstein Kiel (2-1 against SpVgg Greuther Fürth).

1. FC Nürnberg prevented a false start in the last minute and saved a 2-2 win against Hannover 96. The only 17-year-old Can Uzun scored in the Max Morlock Stadium in the 2-2 (0-2) win against Hannover 96 from the Game out (66th minute) and then nerve-racking from the penalty spot after a foul on Daichi Hayashi in stoppage time.

1. FC Magdeburg scored their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Braunschweig.

HSV coach dissatisfied after the draw

A week after the 5-3 win against FC Schalke, HSV also turned the game around in Karlsruhe with goals from Laszlo Benes (61st minute) and striker Glatzel (65th), but had to go through Fabian after being 1-0 down Schleusener (14th) finally accepted the equalizer from substitute Budu Siwsiwadse (90th).

“We saw a fantastic game and can be satisfied with the equalizer. Overall, we’ve come a little closer in terms of quality,” said KSC coach Christian Eichner. Of course, HSV coach Tim Walter was not satisfied with the result. “We didn’t have the consistency of last week, but we’re still in the preparatory phase,” said the coach.

From the other top favorites FC Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC, the Revierclub managed their first win of the season in the 3-0 (1-0) against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who had to end the game with nine players after two dismissals. Liga and averted the impending false start. Second division record scorer Simon Terodde once again remained FC Schalke’s goalkeeper. The 35-year-old paved the way to victory with his early header to make it 1-0 (13th minute). For Terodde it was already the 174th goal in the football lower house. In front of 61,801 spectators in the Veltins Arena on Saturday evening, Kenan Karaman (70′) and Bryan Lasme (90′ + 2′) met in the duel between the traditional clubs.

“It’s a great feeling to take the lead with the first action. We had a lot going on today with the dismissals, but there’s still a lot to do,” said Terodde. Coach Thomas Reis saw it similarly: “Last week we learned the hard way, today we were able to defend it to some extent. But we still have some catching up to do,” said the Schalke coach.

Hertha in the table cellar

For the Berliners, however, the top group of the league is currently not an issue. “It’s not about promotion first. It’s about building a new team, a new team spirit, a new system, a new Hertha, a new character,” said head coach Pal Dardai, who was with his team after the 0-1 at Fortuna Düsseldorf also newly promoted SV Wehen Wiesbaden lost 1-0 on Friday evening. Hertha started the season with two goalless games for the first time since 1994. And the next matchday is the top duel at HSV.
