Offensive spectacle in the second division: 18 goals were scored in the three games on Saturday afternoon. SC Paderborn shines with a 7-2 win against Kiel, Karlsruhe wins 6-0 in Regensburg.

SC Paderborn’s goal machine is running at full speed in the 2nd Bundesliga.

With another spectacle in the 7-2 (5-2) win against the previously undefeated team from Holstein Kiel, the East Westphalians are back at the top of the table and celebrated their third win in a row against the North Germans.

The SCP thrives, especially in front of a home audience. It was 5-0 against Karlsruher SC and 4-2 against Hannover. Florent Muslija (7’/penalty), Julian Justvan (13′), Raphael Obermair (25′), Felix Platte (29’/37′) and Marvin Pieringer (52′) all scored against Kiel.

“We already have good guys up there. We’ve started very well now, but the season is still young,” said SCP goalkeeper Jannik Huth after the game. “We were very consistent in front of the opposing goal and also had a bit of luck in our defense,” said coach Lukas Kwasniok. Paderborn have already won five home games in a row across the seasons.

18 goals in three games

After a mediocre start to the season, Karlsruher SC also got away with a 6-0 thrashing of Jahn Regensburg and made a big leap forward in the table. Previously, the Karlsruhe team had not won there for almost 50 years. Marcel Franke (7th), Paul Nebel (14th) and Jerôme Gondorf (43rd) made the preliminary decision in front of 9612 spectators. Fabian Schleusener (48th/66th) and Tim Breithaupt (78th) followed suit.

After two games without a win, 1. FC Nürnberg only secured the 2-1 win over previously undefeated SV Sandhausen in injury time through Kwadwo Duah. “We worked hard for that. But we always have to perform as well as we did in the second half,” demanded Nuremberg coach Robert Klauß.

Fortuna Düsseldorf missed a win again despite equalizing twice. The Rhinelanders did not get beyond a 2-2 (0-0) win at newly promoted Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday evening. The hosts rewarded themselves in a duel worth seeing for a strong first half and took the lead thanks to Robin Krausse (56th). Just a little later, Nicolas Gavory (61′) equalised, before Anton Donkor made it 2-1 (70′) and this time the guests equalized even more quickly through Marcel Sobottka (71′).

Promotion favorite Hamburger SV had already suffered a setback on Friday evening. In the hectic game with a total of four dismissals, HSV fell behind early on with two quick goals against Darmstadt 98 and lost the game 1-2. “We were probably still in the dressing room,” said coach Tim Walter about the quick goal. “We beat ourselves,” said the coach.
