Hamburger SV has defended its lead in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the home game against the strong promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern, however, the Hanseatic League had to be satisfied with a 1:1 (1:0).

In front of 57,000 spectators in the sold-out Volksparkstadion, Robert Glatzel (24th) scored the opening goal for HSV, for which Sonny Kittel (81st) missed a penalty kick. With the equalizer, Lex Lobinger (82′) ensured that FCK remained undefeated for the sixth time in a row and that HSV received a damper before the city derby at FC St. Pauli.

HSV coach Tim Walter had to replace first-choice goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes (gastrointestinal infection), Matheo Raab made his HSV league debut against his former club. The hosts had significantly more possession of the ball, but were initially unable to assert themselves. FCK striker Terence Boyd had the first chance and headed over the goal (19′).

On the other side, the first successful attack led to 1:0. Kittel’s sharp cross was repelled by keeper Andreas Luthe directly to Glatzel, who scored for the seventh time. Kenny Redondo missed the equalizer for the upcoming guests just before the break.

After the change, there was a huge chance to equalize when Moritz Heyer slipped away and Boyd narrowly missed Raab alone (47′). Redondo also had the 1: 1 on the foot, but aimed wide (63rd). In return, Luthe cleared Laszlo Benes’ shot and later against Glatzel (69./74.) and substitute Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (72). However, the guests always remained extremely dangerous on the counterattack. This also applies to the somewhat fortunate equalizer: first Luthe Kittel parried a penalty kick, then Lobinger quickly overcame the strong Raab.
