254 HLM housing units will be built in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, including “studios at 200 euros per month”

HLM housing close to the National Assembly. This is what is planned for the site of the former Ministry of Defense, whose delivery is expected in 2023. “In a single operation, the site of the Saint-Germain block will increase by a third the number of social housing in the 7th arrondissement, which is the red lantern in this area, ”said Ian Brossat, deputy (PCF) for housing at the town hall of Paris in
the columns of Parisian.

The 7th arrondissement has only 4% of social housing, far behind the average for the capital (23.6%), even if its mayor Rachida Dati “has never opposed social housing”, specifies her advisor Emmanuelle Dauvergne. 10, rue Saint-Dominique, will therefore accommodate 254 housing units from T1 to T4, including 10% reserved for soldiers, as well as a nursery and a gymnasium.

Attractive price

The site is divided into two large buildings. The first dating from the nineteenth century will “offer large apartments crossing between the street and the garden”, while the second, more modern and accommodating the nursery and the gymnasium on the ground floor, will be composed of “small apartments to distribute correctly this building ”, specifies François Brugel, the project manager. All with a thermal renovation equivalent to a new home.

The price will also be particularly attractive. “For a 20 m² studio, the rent will be 200 euros including charges, two to three times cheaper than in the private sector,” says Ian Brossat. At this rate, it’s even cheaper than a student room at CROUS.
