25 kilos of ketamine, 100,000 euros in cash and weapons seized

The gendarmes of Ille-et-Vilaine carried out this week a big crackdown in a case of drug trafficking. For several weeks already, the soldiers of the Janzé brigade had been investigating potential drug trafficking in the Vitré sector. The investigations continued this summer and made it possible to uncover “an active network in several municipalities of the department organizing its regular supply from the Netherlands”, indicate the gendarmes in a press release.

Tuesday, under the authority of the public prosecutor, a judicial operation was carried out and led to the arrest of nine individuals in Rennes, Chantepie, Janzé and in other towns of Ille-et-Vilaine, Côtes -d’Armor and Morbihan.

Two individuals remanded in custody

During the searches, the gendarmes got their hands on 25 kilos of ketamine, 1.4 kilos of cannabis resin, 2.18 kilos of grass and around 3,000 ecstasy tablets. More than 100,000 euros in cash as well as several firearms and 9mm caliber ammunition were also discovered.

At the end of police custody, four men, aged 22 to 42, were brought before the Rennes prosecutor’s office on Friday. Three of them will be the subject of a deferred appearance on December 19. Pending the hearing, two have been placed in pre-trial detention and the third under judicial supervision In this case, six young men aged 20 to 25 will also be summoned to appear before the criminal court on September 29, 2023.
