A glider pilot overshot the runway during an emergency landing in Upper Franconia. As the police announced on Monday, the 22-year-old and her 17-year-old passenger were uninjured in the accident on Sunday afternoon in the Hof district.
Shortly after take-off from the airfield in Helmbrechts, the pull rope disconnected prematurely for an as yet unknown reason. That’s why the 22-year-old had to make an emergency landing due to a lack of altitude.
The glider pilot touched down in the middle of the runway, then shot over it and slid over a two-meter-deep slope into a field. The glider sustained damage worth around 50,000 euros.
