Jan Diesteldorf, Frankfurt

This year’s Nobel Prize for Economics is shared by the three macroeconomists David Card, Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens. The Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on Monday afternoon in Stockholm. All three teach and research at universities in the United States. The academy split the award: Half of it honors David Card for his “groundbreaking research on labor markets”. He was one of the first influential users of the methods for so-called natural experiments developed by Angrist and Imbens. The latter share the second half of the award “for their methodological contributions to the analysis of causal relationships”.
