200 people threatened with dismissal after the judicial liquidation of BTP Fondeville

The construction company Fondeville was placed in compulsory liquidation by the the Commercial Court From toulouse. This family business from Perpignan, more than a century old, had experienced significant financial difficulties in recent years. It had more than 350 employees in 2018 before a first receivership. At the time, in order to bring in cash, it had notably separated from its subsidiary Arrelia, in Oc’Santé.

The Covid-19 health and economic crisis and the explosion in the cost of raw materials after the war in Ukraine have accelerated its difficulties. It would have liabilities of 34 million euros and would not be able to pay several debts, particularly social debts.

200 people threatened with dismissal

More than 200 people find themselves threatened with losing their jobs, in Perpignan, but also Montpellier and Marseille. The commercial court granted the company a period of three months to continue its activity, which will make it possible to continue or even complete the projects in progress.

A company takeover plan is reportedly in the works. A hearing is already planned for December before the Toulouse commercial court to rule on these possible takeover proposals.
