At the start of the trial in the Hof regional court, a 20-year-old admitted that he had killed his mother. The defendant stated that he wanted to prevent his younger brother from being vaccinated, a court spokesman said on Tuesday.
The public prosecutor accuses the defendant of murdering his 54-year-old mother in her apartment in Thiersheim (Wunsiedel district) in March of this year. According to the prosecution, the man suffers from delusions and is therefore a convinced opponent of vaccination. According to the information, he blamed his mother for having previously been vaccinated. He was convinced that the vaccinations had ruined his life.
With the alleged act he wanted to prevent his eleven-year-old brother from receiving a vaccination in April. The defendant is said to have used brute force to beat his mother and then strangle her. When the 54-year-old was already dead, he is said to have shot several bolts into her head with a crossbow.
The young man then called the emergency number himself and stated that he had killed his mother, as the police and public prosecutor’s office said at the time. Rescue workers found the woman lifeless and could only determine her death. The police arrested the man without resistance. He has been in custody ever since.
Due to the defendant’s age, the proceedings will be heard in a youth chamber. Five more dates are planned until the end of October.
