“20 Minutes” is a 100% reliable media according to Newsguard

In this time of fake news, read 20 minutes is a guarantee of reliability. We are not the ones saying this but Newsguard, which assesses all French-language news and information sites and which has just awarded a score of 100/100 to 20 minutes. To rate press headlines, Newsguard builds on “nine apolitical criteria for assessing the credibility and transparency of sites”.

On the reliability side, the start-up points out that 20 minutes “do not publish incorrect information repeatedly” and when we are wrong, unfortunately it happens, we “regularly correct and clarify errors”. The journalists of 20 minutes “collect and present information responsibly”, “responsibly manage the difference between information and opinion”, “avoid misleading headlines”.

With regard to transparency, 20 minutes “indicate who owns it [les groupes Sipa-Ouest France et Rossel] and how it is financed” or “clearly identifies the advertisement”.

This is not the first time that Newsguard has highlighted the work of the editorial staff of 20 minutes. In 2021, we were at the top of the ranking of the most trusted sites, in second place in 2023.
