20 million euros in Corona emergency aid reclaimed – Bavaria

During the corona pandemic, the state supported companies in distress due to lockdowns and a drop in sales. “The total amount of disbursements in Bavaria across all programs amounts to 11.9 billion euros,” the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Tuesday. But now comes the reckoning.

The state has already completed 60 percent of the restart aid and has reclaimed almost 20 million euros, said a ministry spokesman in Munich. Reason: Sales did not drop as sharply as expected when the application was submitted.

The federal government has extended the deadlines for the final billing for the bridging, November and December aid. When the bridging aid is finally calculated, in addition to reclaims, additional payments are also possible. “After just over ten percent of the applications have been finally processed, no figures can yet be given here,” said the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Nationwide, one in four companies that received government aid during the Corona crisis will probably have to repay part of it. This emerges from a preliminary balance sheet from the Federal Ministry of Economics, which is available to the German Press Agency. However, around 40 percent of companies also receive additional payments from the federal government. This is based on samples of the 338,000 applications submitted so far for the final bill. Nationwide, 13.1 billion euros in emergency aid and 63.3 billion euros were paid out for programs such as November, December and restart aid.
