2-year-old drowns in family pool

A 2 year old child drowned after falling in the family swimming pool in the village of Griselles (Loiret). The little boy was found unconscious in the water by his relatives on Tuesday, announced the Montargis public prosecutor, Loïc Abrial.

It was the victim’s brother and sister, aged 5 and 7, who found her in the swimming pool. “The emergency services practiced first aid and restarted the heart,” the prosecutor said on Wednesday. “The child was evacuated. In the evening, he had another cardiopulmonary arrest in hospital and died. “

Family reported to authorities in March

An investigation was opened to determine more precisely the causes of death and the circumstances of the drowning. The investigations were entrusted to the Montargis research brigade. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

The boy’s family was being evaluated by the services of the Loiret departmental council. This procedure was ordered after a report from the gendarmerie on March 19. The soldiers, alerted by the town hall, intervened because one of the siblings’ children had been seen “unsupervised”, according to the prosecution.
