What colors in the bohemian dining room?
The bohemian style is mainly defined by a palette of soft and bright neutral colors. However, a touch of color is also welcome!
In recent seasons, pure white is losing ground, including in the bohemian dining room. To adopt it, we therefore make sure to warm it up, by adopting a decoration that gives pride of place to wood.
For a soft atmosphere, we prefer muted shades such as greige or pearl gray, or warm neutrals such as ecru, which tends to replace white in bohemian interiors.
Softness of materials, predilection for wood and particular attention paid to luminosity: the Nordic style and the boho style have many points in common. No wonder, then, that they marry perfectly! Around the table in the bohemian dining room, we therefore allow ourselves without hesitation a touch of pastel.
To wake up your bohemian dining room, have fun with textiles. Of course, plaids and cushions can come to decorate the seats. But the most effective way to give pep to the decor is obviously the carpet.
The trendy alternative to give color to the boho dining room is to paint patterns on the walls. We love soft lines, like the arch or the circle. And if you are definitely not very comfortable when it comes to slicing, do not panic: you just have to combine them. In terms of colors, we put on a very natural green or on earthy shades: ochre, coppery brown or terracotta.
Bold, black in the boho dining room? Without a doubt ! However, it has a maximum effect! To adopt it, apply black on the parquet floor or on the accent wall.
What furniture in the bohemian dining room?
In the bohemian dining room, there is no doubt: wood is the star. And if we gladly accessorize it with soft and natural materials, more contemporary materials are not to be completely excluded.
The solid wood table is most often the center of the boho dining room. Full of character, it’s so gorgeous that you don’t want to hide it under a tablecloth. Be careful, however: if you want it to retain all its shine, it is essential that it be protected. So make sure your table has a waterproofing treatment and stain protection before you permanently remove the tablecloth. If not, be sure to get treatments specifically designed for food contact surfaces.
Too imposing, the solid wood table? Keep the top as is, and paint the legs white. The alternative: customize it with new metal feet. In either case, your table will immediately gain in lightness.
Although the wooden table may seem essential, it is hardly suitable for a very small bohemian dining room. We then fall for the tulip table: this icon of the 1950s brings a delicious little vintage air to the decor.
The charming asset of the large format bohemian dining room is the bench. For more comfort, accessorize it with cushions or throws.
In addition to wood, caning is an essential material in the bohemian dining room. For a vintage touch, we love the tubular steel chairs, borrowed from the design of the 1920s.
In terms of bohemian decoration, a touch of fantasy is welcome. In the dining room, the easiest way is to play with the seats. Revamped in a linen or cane version, the medallion chairs thus bring a very chic – and very trendy – rustic feel! – in the boho dining room.
Bench, upholstered bench and chairs are the most commonly used seats in the bohemian dining room. If you have a nice space, you can however dare more original options. A vintage icon of the boho style, the Emmanuelle armchair can thus find its place at the end of the table.
If the bohemian style favors light colors and natural materials, it is metal and dark colors that are in the spotlight in industrial decoration. These two currents may thus seem irreconcilable and yet… Leveraging wood – a material common to these two styles – this small dining room skilfully mixes the codes, and it’s hot!
Very natural, the boho decoration requires a little vegetal touch. If we like fresh or dried flowers in bouquets, we love green plants, which bring more life. If you are short on space in the dining room, do not hesitate to exploit the window frame and the ceiling.
Plants, mirror or macrame: we can easily imagine a very present decoration in the boho chic dining room. However, it can very well be minimalist! In this beautiful space with XXL dimensions, it is the solid wood table that takes center stage. Here, no decoration – or almost: only a huge carpet that brings softness and brightness.
