150th birthday of the state theorist Moritz Julius Bonn – Culture

The economist and state theorist Moritz Julius Bonn, who was born 150 years ago on June 26 in Frankfurt am Main (and died in London in 1965), was one of the most brilliant figures of the epoch between the German Empire and the National Socialist dictatorship, which was certainly not lacking in talent. He was a student of the best in his field, Gustav Schmoller, Lujo Brentano and Max Weber. Even as a student and young scientist, he had traveled widely, as far as Africa. He knew his way around Italy and met his English wife there. In 1914 he came to the USA as a guest professor – it was only when the USA entered the war in 1917 that the chapter ended that made him a sought-after expert after his return and thus opened his political career.
