The accident took place during the night from Monday to Tuesday in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine). A 34-year-old driver lost his life in this fatal collision with a car driven by a 14-year-old teenager, said the Créteil prosecutor’s office.
At the wheel of a car reported stolen, the young boy “would have refused to submit to injunctions [de la police] and fled,” continues the prosecution. He “lost control of the vehicle and hit a car coming the wrong way”, killing his driver, he explains.
An investigation into theft, aggravated refusal to comply and aggravated manslaughter was opened by the Créteil public prosecutor’s office, seized because the minor accused is domiciled in Val-de-Marne.
The injured teenager was “admitted to hospital” and “his vital prognosis is not in jeopardy”, specified the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. He was placed in police custody, which was still in progress on Tuesday noon.
Loss of control
According to a police source, around 2:50 a.m. in the night from Monday to Tuesday, police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) spotted a car near Palaiseau (Essonne) that they suspected of having been stolen. Still according to this source, the vehicle then refuses to comply and heads towards the RN118, then takes the D906.
It was near the town of Clamart that the driver lost control, crossed the central reservation and hit a car approaching, details the same police source. The minor driver then gets out of the car he was driving, while it begins to catch fire, and is arrested by the police. The victim driving the other car was declared dead despite the intervention of emergency services.
The investigation was entrusted to the Judicial Accident Processing Service (STJA) of the Paris Police Prefecture.
