The peculiarities of the farmhouse table

The farmhouse table stands out for its simplicity. Because originally, it is a question of accommodating a large table, but also of compensating for the absence of a worktop in the kitchen. The farmhouse table is therefore a solid wood table, in a generous rectangular format.

Over time, the farmhouse table is sometimes confused with another equally robust model: the monastery table (or abbey table). This table takes its name from its use, since it comes from the refectory of monasteries. This very large model – at least 1.80 meters long – has solid lyre-shaped legs set slightly back from the top.

This configuration makes sitting down and getting up more comfortable, since it is normally associated not with chairs, but with benches.
