Of the 118 feminicides, 37 women had already been subjected to violence by their spouse or ex-spouse before their death, 24 of them had reported the facts to the police, 16 of whom had filed a complaint.
One of the victims had a serious danger telephone allowing the rapid intervention of the police thanks to a pre-programmed key and, for two others, their spouse or ex-spouse was the subject of judicial control.
Arguing (26%) and refusal of separation (23%) remain the main motives for taking action. The facts are mostly committed in the home of the couple, the victim or the perpetrator (87%), without premeditation (92%), mainly with a bladed weapon (43%) or a firearm (20%). Asphyxiation, by strangulation or suffocation, is the third mode of operation (17%), exclusively male.
More than a third of the murderers committed suicide or attempted
In more than one out of three cases (36%), the presence of at least one substance likely to impair the discernment of the perpetrator and/or the victim (alcohol, narcotics, psychotropic drugs) is noted at the time of the facts.
