One hundred and fourteen people are confined after an incident in a Seveso-classified factory, in Lédenon, in the Gard. Seveso sites produce or store substances that can be dangerous for people and the environment. The firefighters were called at 4:56 a.m. to Hydrapro, for a chlorine product overheating. The manufacturer of chlorine tablets launched its internal operations plan following the release of smoke.

No injuries are reported. “The first analyzes note the absence of toxicity outside the building, specifies Sdis 30. As a precautionary measure, one hundred and fourteen people are confined: twenty employees of the site, ninety from the neighboring company and four inhabitants , located within a radius of 800 meters. »

The intervention of the firefighters will last several hours

The company evacuated the chlorine powder storage. “The 2,800 m2 building being under retention, the cooling water is recovered and will be reprocessed later by the company in order to avoid any pollution of the ground”, specify the firefighters, while the wind favors the dilution of the vapours.

Deconfinement and the restoration of circulation will take place as soon as the “flooding” procedure is completed. The intervention will last several hours in order to secure the premises and allow the company to resume operations. The firefighters are asking the public not to go to the scene in order to facilitate their intervention.
