An 11-year-old child died in Saint-Denis after falling from the 13th floor, according to the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office, confirming information from BFM Paris. The macabre discovery was made in the city of La Courtille, around 5 a.m.

The parents woke up around 5 a.m. for the first meal of the day, in the middle of Ramadan. “The mother discovered that the window of her daughter’s bedroom was wide open before warning her husband,” reports BFM Paris. “Territorial security is seized,” indicates the prosecution to 20 minutes.

On average every year since 2016, around 64 children have fallen with serious consequences and six die, according to figures from the fire brigade, whose area of ​​action covers the departments of Paris, Hauts -de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. “The number of occurrences has been generally stable over recent years,” specifies the Paris police headquarters, which indicates, however, that these figures only count deaths on site, and not those in hospital.

The Paris Fire Brigade points out that it is important to never leave a child unsupervised, “especially in an apartment”. “We must also avoid leaving chairs or any furniture on which a child could climb near windows and balconies. »
