Defending champion Tadej Pogacar was seven seconds slower than Lampaert after 13.2 kilometers and finished third. Lennard Kämna was the best German professional cyclist, 19th with a 25-second slower ride than Lampaert.
The advantage that Pogacar gained over his competitors for overall victory should be much more important than his third place. His greatest adversary Primoz Roglic is nine seconds behind, last year’s second Jonas Vingegaard one second behind. Alexander Vlasov, captain of the German team Bora-hansgrohe, was 24 seconds slower than Pogacar.
