Lennard Kämna was eleven seconds short of the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. The German tour hope now wants to hold its own as long as possible in the front field of the overall standings.

Questions to professional cyclist Lennard Kämna after his drive to second place in the Tour de France.

Question: You just missed out on the yellow jersey. Do you understand that Tadej Pogacar sprinted another few seconds at the end?

Lennard Kämna: In the end it’s sport. We don’t give each other gifts. We’re all fighting for stage wins and the yellow jersey. I don’t expect anyone to give me anything. Especially not the yellow jersey. You gave me a lot of minutes. I had my chance. I just didn’t use them.

Do you have any hope of getting another chance?

Kämna: I am now second overall. I do not give up. I’ll definitely have to fight a bit now because the day cost a lot of energy. I’ll try to stay tuned for as long as possible.

Will you run away again on Wednesday?

Kamna: Absolutely not. It took so much strength to get into this group. I have to make sure I can keep up.

And on Thursday to Alpe d’Huez?

Kämna: That depends. Maybe give me 20 minutes. Then I would have a chance.
