Samsung presented its new Galaxy S22 series on February 9th. Based on the actual price trends of selected predecessor models, idealo has analyzed how the prices of the new top smartphones Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra are developing in the first eleven months after their release. Consumers who can be patient with the purchase for a few weeks will be rewarded: According to the idealo price forecast, savings of up to 18 percent are possible after just one month, depending on the model.
For the forecast, idealo evaluated the price developments of the previous models Samsung Galaxy S21 and S20. The first eleven months after market launch were analyzed in each case. The following starting prices each refer to the smallest memory variant (128 gigabytes) and serve as starting values for the price preview for the Galaxy S22 series:
- Galaxy S22: from 849 euros
- Galaxy S22 Plus: from 1,049 euros
- Galaxy S22 Ultra: from 1,249 euros
Galaxy S22: Save 163 euros after three months
As the forecast from idealo shows, the price for the Samsung Galaxy S22 could be 686 euros after three months, i.e. around 163 euros below the manufacturer’s recommended retail price. If the price stagnates a bit in the fourth month, it should fall below the EUR 650 mark after about five months: According to the idealo analysis, the market price is then EUR 649 and thus almost 24 percent below the starting price. The lowest price for the Galaxy S22 is reached after eleven months – the device may then be available for around 579 euros.
Galaxy S22 Plus: Savings of 290 euros possible after three months
The price for the larger variant of the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22 Plus, will also drop by more than 25 percent after a short time, according to the forecast by the idealo price comparison: After just three months, buyers will save almost 290 euros here – the price will then be around 762 euros. The 750 euro mark has been cracked after five months. Here the percentage saving compared to the starting price is around 30 percent. The price then stagnates for a longer period of time until it reaches its low point after eleven months. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus could be available for around €674 at this point.
Galaxy S22 Ultra: Wait four months and save almost 350 euros
The forecast price trend for the top device Galaxy S22 Ultra is similar to that of the other two models: In the first few months, the price falls continuously – after four months savings of 28 percent or around 350 euros are already possible. After that, the price remains relatively stable. It is expected to fall below the 900 euro mark after five months. At this point, the Galaxy S22 Ultra could be available for €888. The preliminary low price is reached after eleven months: Buyers then only pay 832 euros and thus 417 euros less than immediately after the market launch.
