The flood disaster in summer hit the region around Bad Münstereifel hard. Many people have lost their belongings. Some also have to mourn the loss of parents, children, relatives, friends or acquaintances. Suffering and hardship are still huge, as Stefan Winsel writes in a press release. He is the initiator of the “Zorneding Hilft” campaign and especially wants to make children and senior citizens happy at Christmas and show them that they are not alone in this difficult situation. “Zorneding Hilft” collects Christmas parcels and brings them to the flood areas. The first Christmas transport is planned for the end of October, with more to follow. Parcels for children should contain toys, handicrafts and painting materials, books, sweets or cuddly toys. Parcel for seniors ointments, creams, soaps, candles, Christmas tree decorations, decorative items, cookies and chocolate. The new or as good as new goods should be stowed in an open shoe box or a similar container and handed in with wrapping paper at the Gärtnerei Schütz collection point, Eglhartinger Straße 46, in Pöring.
Winsel and his colleagues also collect other donations, such as construction and household appliances, tools and building materials, children’s toys and bicycles and much more. Donations of money are also needed, the municipality of Zorneding has set up its own donation account for this purpose.
