Before the regional elections, a leaflet pointed out the “6 Islamic sins” of Xavier Bertrand. The president of Hauts-de-France and declared presidential candidate filed in June a complaint for defamation against the candidate RN who had distributed this leaflet, we learned on Wednesday from his entourage.
“Xavier Bertrand lodged a complaint with civil action against Damien Rieu on June 17 for acts of defamation,” said his entourage, confirming information from The voice of the North. “The subject of the complaint is a defamatory leaflet entitled” the 6 Islamic sins of Xavier Bertrand “”, one specifies.
Former spokesperson for Generation Identity
Xavier Bertrand had raised this complaint during a televised debate with the head of the National Rally (RN) list Sébastien Chenu, during the regional campaign, but no confirmation of its submission could then be obtained from his team.
Former spokesperson and main media figure of Generation Identity, Damien Rieu (an assumed name) was a candidate for the departmental under the RN label in the Somme, where he was beaten by his various left rivals. Very active on Twitter for his more than 100,000 subscribers, he confirmed in a tweet on September 17 that he had received a pre-indictment notice for defamation for the distribution of the leaflet.
Funding of the Averroès Muslim high school

The leaflet in question mentions, among other things, the financing of the Averroès Muslim high school by the region.
In July, the Lille administrative court ordered the Hauts-de-France region to make the payment to this high school of subsidies, blocked since March 2020 due to suspicions about its funding. The region then indicated that it was going to pay the sum, but also to appeal in cassation.
