Watch the video: Saudi astronaut started a private mission to the ISS.

Good-humored greetings from the crew of “Axiom 2” from space. The US company Axiom Space’s second private space mission, led by Commander Peggy Whitson, is en route to the International Space Station. On Sunday, the team took off in a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. In addition to the ex-Nasa astronaut Whitson, the US pilot and former racing driver John Shoffner and the mission specialists Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi from Saudi Arabia are on board. The stem cell researcher is the first woman from the Arab kingdom to fly into space. After the launch, Barnawi thanked her family and other supporters from the Dragon space capsule. “And to the people of this world: The future shines brightly. I want you to dream big. Believe in yourself and in humanity.” Barnawi wants to conduct breast cancer research projects on the ISS. The crew of four is scheduled to arrive on the International Space Station on Monday. The stay in space is planned for around a week. The first private space mission was launched in April last year to the ISS. The corporations and the US space agency Nasa celebrated this as a milestone on the way to the commercialization of trips into space.
