World Heritage: adding new sites to the list of Unesco journeys

Interview by

Irene Helmes

After the pandemic break in 2020, the annual meeting of the World Heritage Committee is currently taking place again, at the Orte awarded the Unesco title or on the Red List of Threatened Sites can be set – what was last threatened Venice. Liverpool has just been stripped of the title because of major construction projects. Christoph Brumann, 58, is a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle and was already present at these meetings. In March he published the book “The Best We Share” on the world heritage and its allocation system. He shows why there are still so few sites in the global south that have received the predicate.
