Work no longer creates wealth – thoughts on May 1st – opinion

This Sunday it will sound again in many voices, the hymn to work. Politicians and trade unionists will flatter the people who “do something in this country” or “keep the shop running,” according to the usual phrases, and you can place bets on which professions will receive the most praise: the saleswomen, probably and the educators, and, for sure, the nurses and the nurses. Of course, there will not only be flattery, but also demands: the working conditions must finally improve, so the unionists will demand it with clenched fists at their rallies, more skilled workers and more collective agreements. A few hundred listeners will wave flags and give applause.
