The women’s World Cup starts on Thursday. These heads accompany the reporting of the public broadcasters.

The upcoming Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will start on July 20th. For the first time, 32 teams will fight for the title in 64 games. The public broadcasters ARD and ZDF are ready to report extensively on the tournament. These are the most important faces in TV reporting.

ARD moderators and experts

In the first, presenter Claus Lufen (56) and ARD expert Nia Künzer (43) will guide you through the World Cup live from the studio in Hamburg. Claus Lufen presents the programs, while Nia Künzer, herself a former soccer player and world champion, contributes her specialist knowledge and expertise. It will be her last job as a football expert on ARD. Künzer is giving up the expert job after the World Cup.

The games will be accompanied by commentators Christina Graf (37), Bernd Schmelzer (57) and Stephanie Baczyk (36). Graf and Schmelzer will comment on the games from the host countries New Zealand and Australia, while Baczyk will contribute her voice from Hamburg.

Another highlight of the ARD reporting is the official World Cup song “Wir Ihr Alle Eins” by comedian Carolin Kebekus (43), who provides the soundtrack of the World Cup broadcasts in the first and provides the right mood.

ZDF moderators and commentators

ZDF will also broadcast matches from the Women’s World Cup. Moderator Sven Voss (47) moderates the transmissions in the second and analyzes the games together with changing guests. The games themselves are accompanied by various commentators, including Claudia Neumann (59), Norbert Galeske (62), Oliver Schmidt, Martin Schneider, Daniel Pinschower and Heiko Klasen (54).

Giulia Gwinn (24) and Kathrin Lehmann (43) contribute special expertise. Giulia Gwinn, named “Best Young Player” at the 2019 World Cup, will offer viewers additional perspectives on players and teams. Due to an injury, the FC Bayern player cannot take part in the tournament. She will provide insights and analyzes of the World Cup on “ZDF-Moma” in the morning. Kathrin Lehmann, a successful soccer and ice hockey player, will contribute her knowledge of international soccer as an expert in the World Cup studio.

The two ex-national players Tabea Kemme (31) and Josephine Henning (33) are also on duty six times both as co-commentators and as field reporters. The duo already accompanied the EM 2022 with a bus across England and are traveling to Australia and New Zealand this year.

Additional Reporting

Both ARD and ZDF offer their viewers extensive online services to follow the Women’s World Cup at any time. In the media libraries of both stations (ARD/ZDF) you will find all games, goals, highlights and reports in full length, summaries and other formats.
