The football associations from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium have officially submitted their joint application for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The trio consisting of the German Football Association (DFB), Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) and Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) are the first applicants to express their interest in the major event.

“Women’s football is currently developing well worldwide. We want to pick up this momentum with our joint application and set another exclamation point,” said DFB General Secretary Heike Ullrich in a statement on Friday (March 24th, 2023).

“Breaking New Ground”

The joint application has been in preparation since 2020. “We are certain that we can offer the perfect conditions for the tournament. Our aim is to present the players with the best sporting conditions, the fans with a unique atmosphere and all associations with sustainable approaches,” said Ullrich.

The slogan of the application should be “BNG” for “Breaking new ground”. The three letters also stand for the English names of the nations “Belgium”, “Netherlands” and “Germany”.
