There are billions for Saarland: The American semiconductor manufacturer Wolfspeed is planning a new production facility in the federal state that is struggling with economic upheaval. A new, state-of-the-art factory for semiconductors is to be built on the site of a former coal-fired power plant in Ensdorf in the Saarlouis district. According to SZ information, the project is about to be announced. This Wednesday, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to give the go-ahead together with Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck, Saarland Prime Minister Anke Rehlinger and industry representatives.
