WM 2022 News: Fredi Bobic cautiously sends readiness for DFB job

9th of December
Fredi Bobic does not rule out an engagement with the German Football Association. “The content must always be in the foreground,” said Hertha BSC’s sports director on MagentaTV on Friday afternoon about a possible job as sports director at the DFB. As far as his person is concerned, he can “never rule anything out. That’s how it is in football”. He knows “how dynamic a football business can be”. His focus is currently on Hertha BSC, “but if I’m asked for advice, I’ll be happy to say something about it.”
The DFB is looking for a successor after director Oliver Bierhoff announced his resignation on Monday, and a double solution is also under discussion. First of all, the DFB must create profiles and know what they want in the future, said the 51-year-old Bobic. Only then should it be a matter of choosing the right person. “It can also be others, it doesn’t always have to be me,” said Bobic.
It doesn’t matter to him that his name is repeatedly mentioned in the debate about Bierhoff’s successor. “It is of course the case that it does something to you. That goes without saying and is also very clear.” But he is “calm and structured” and has a lot to do at Hertha BSC, “that’s my main focus, that’s my most important focus that I currently have”.
