Every once in a while you come across an album that brings you all the new that you don’t get to unless you have the time or patience to observe the myriad niches of music where all the new is born. The Berlin electro musician Sissi Rada made such an album with “Nanodiamond”. There is this new sense of rhythm that relegates the traditional jazz and pop accents on marching and bass drums far into the past and instead breaks down beats into tiny parts that lie like dabs under and beside the music or sometimes like a tremor over it . It’s the electronic sound images that are made by people whose listening habits mean that the frequency spectrum is not a gentle hill with a rich mid-range, but a pronounced canyon with extreme bass and high tones, which develops enormous clarity in the headphones. Actually a generation, but not an age question.
