Wirecard process: insolvency administrator against group boss – economy

Ex-Wirecard boss Markus Braun wants to show in court that his company’s business was real – and that he was deceived. Insolvency administrator Michael Jaffé, however, cannot find any reference to the customers or the money.

When Markus Braun explains the matter, everything seems very logical. “We’re not talking about a theory here,” said the former Wirecard boss in court last week after presenting payment flows and internal mail exchanges again. They should prove his version of the ruin of the then Dax group. “We’re talking about hard, mathematically compelling evidence” – and that shows that there really were those deals in Asia where, according to the indictment, billions of dollars were invented. The money existed, but it was embezzled. Not by him, but by a small group of former subordinates. Braun was betrayed and ripped off by his own people, says Braun.
