Wild tumult and a cool German referee

The game between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City was very exciting until the end. The English defended 0-0, which meant entry into the semi-finals of the Champions League, the Spaniards ran passionately. In the 90th minute, the previously heated game escalated after Atletico’s Stefan Savic fouled City’s Phil Folden. Frantic pack formation ensued, including attempted headbutts, hair pulling and neck grabs. And right in the middle of it was the young German referee Daniel Siebert on his first assignment in a Champions League quarter-final. It was a real challenge that Siebert mastered. He distributed two yellow and one red-yellow card and allowed 13 minutes to be replayed. In the end, Manchester City made it into the semi-finals of the Champions League and will meet Real Madrid there. TV recordings show that the clashes in the players’ tunnel continued, so that even the police intervened.
