Lothar Matthäus quits his job as junior coach at TSV Grünwald because he was constantly being criticized by his family. Other clubs are aware of the problem and are trying to counteract it.
He is a world champion and record-breaking international player, was World Footballer of the Year twice in a row in 1990 and 1991 and has coached the national teams of Hungary and Bulgaria, among others: But Lothar Matthäus has now quit after two years as coach of the E-Juniors at TSV Grünwald because the parents of his young players made life difficult for him. The 63-year-old gave this as the reason for his departure in the program “Sky 90 – the football debate”. “The players caused fewer problems than the parents of the kids,” he said. His actually undisputed authority apparently did not protect him from their criticism. How can that be?
