Who is Philippine Lavrey, shadow star of Les Enfoirés?

She was unanimous at the first concert – five hours – of the Enfoirés in Lyon on January 12 in Lyon. First, by the thunderous applause in the room at each of his occasions during the interludes. Then, on social networks, where some believe that she is even “the revelation of the Enfoirés 2023”. But this Friday evening, during the broadcast of the show on TF1, Filipina Lavrey will go unnoticed. “I am the girl in the shadows,” she blurts out. For six years, she has served as a “witness voice” and mediator between the production, the artists and the orchestra. “I don’t mind having this place for the show,” she says without hiding that she “would love to be part of the troupe”.

But how can this artist coach singers with careers as long as her age (27)? She knows how to do everything. At 6, she learned the piano, alone “because we [lui] offered the instrument at Christmas”. Same story at 13, for the guitar. And before that, she already knew how to play accordion and percussion, bathed in rhythm through her mother, herself an accordionist. Same for singing. Philippine has never taken a course. “I love the freedom of being self-taught,” she says. And she also composes.

“Before, I didn’t want to make it my job”

His specialty is French songs. With her voice with a folk grain, her pep and this talent as an instrumentalist, she now places herself as “a singer with a very promising future”. A story that could never have been written and stayed in Le Havre, where it comes from, if there hadn’t been “The Voice”. “Before participating, I didn’t want to make music or try to make a living from it,” she says. For me, it was doomed, I was going to be disappointed. Above all, I was afraid of hurting myself and not succeeding. »

The show has “changed [sa] vision of the profession. “I imagined a world of sharks,” she says. Thanks to “The Voice”, I understood that the profession of artist was ultimately a huge playground and that it was up to me to choose who to work with. » Then 20 years old, Philippine surrounded herself with singers and musicians « even before having professional contacts » and chained the open mic to make themselves known in Paris. She progresses, makes songs and meets Patrick Fiori.

The decisive encounters

With Théo – former candidate “The Voice” -, the young artist is the first parts of the interpreter of ten commandments with an album of covers from the 1970s. But “the decisive encounter”, as she says, is Mr. Pokora. “I won the #MPPlanetchallenge,” she explains. Matt Pokora’s teams offered me six dates, which turned into twenty-seven! “. It is now co-produced by “this gentleman” as well as Warner Music. The latter also allowed him a significant encounter. That of Benson Boone, also produced by Warner but in the United States. The 20-year-old American rose to fame for his title ghost town and revisited his track In the stars with the help of the French singer-songwriter.

Recognized in the middle – she left again to open for Jenifer’s tour – she also gained notoriety with the public. Nearly 80,000 people follow her on Instagram and almost 50,000 on TikTok. “I love social media,” she says. I like to use it to communicate with people. It’s also an incredible showcase for sharing what we do. And create different content. »

“I am destined for the stage”

For her, it is a tool that allows “to reinvent oneself” so as “not to remain on one’s achievements”. She then uses it to do covers – the last being Flowers by Miley Cyrus. “The covers are an incredible way to enrich the artistic,” says the singer. However, she ensures “always post” while remaining herself. And this, for a simple reason: “I am dedicated to the stage, that is to say to real life. I don’t want people to be disappointed when they come to see me in concert. »

This is how she stands out, in addition to her “organic” compositions. “It’s folk pop, because I start from what I do on the piano or the guitar, but with a lot of voices”. To find out what happens, see you this Friday. Not with Les Enfoirés therefore, but on online listening platforms. Philippine Lavrey finally comes out of the shadows. And alone, with her first single Fall in love. “I hope that people will appreciate it and that this title will make them a hug in the ears”, she launches with great excitement.
