The investigation for assassination opened after the discovery of a charred body Thursday in a wood of Thise (Doubs) has widened to facts of kidnapping, indicated this Saturday the public prosecutor of Besançon Etienne Manteaux. “I have extended the referral to the research section of the national gendarmerie for assassination to facts of possible kidnapping of a second individual”, declared the prosecutor.
The prosecutor explained that it is “possible” that the identity of the man whose body was found is that of “a person whose disappearance was reported on March 9 by his family”.
Another disappearance?
Body identification results are expected this weekend. “This individual was at the time of his disappearance with a second individual whom no one has seen since, which justified the extension of the referral to the research section for these facts of kidnapping”, continued the prosecutor.
The corpse was discovered Thursday morning around 8 a.m., still in flames, at the edge of a road, by a woman who was walking her dog. The prosecutor is expected to give a press conference Monday on the case.
