  • Two inhabitants of Saint-Caprais, in the Gers, were killed Thursday with knives.
  • Their neighbor, a 35-year-old man with a fragile psychological profile, admitted to the double murder.
  • While the investigation continues, he was hospitalized automatically in a psychiatric hospital.

A terrible tragedy doubly mourned Thursday the small Gers village of Saint-Caprais. Two residents lost their lives, stabbed with knives. The day after this double murder, Jacques-Edouard Andrault, the public prosecutor of Auch took stock in a press release on the start of the investigation.

The magistrate returns in particular to the circumstances of the discovery of the two victims. The first, a 70-year-old resident, was found at the end of the afternoon “seriously injured in the chest” on the side of a road, at the exit of the village. The unfortunate man succumbed to his injuries.

A second body at the suspect’s home

“The first information collected” by the gendarmes directed their suspicions towards a neighbor of the first victim, a 35-year-old man, with a fragile psychological profile. It was while calling him at his home around 6:45 p.m. that the investigators came across a second body. That of a 74-year-old woman, also a neighbor of the suspect. “Bladed weapons were discovered nearby.”

The alleged murderer admitted the facts but could only give “confused explanations” for his terrible gesture. The psychiatrist expert called to examine him concluded, explains the public prosecutor, “to the incompatibility of his state of health with police custody”. He was automatically hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital.
