What is this film “Anatomy of a fall” which earned Justine Triet the Palme d’or?

Nice idea to reward Justine Triet for Anatomy of a fall. This suspenseful trial film reveals the ordeal of a woman suspected of having murdered her husband by pushing him out of the window. The Cannes Film Festival honors the director of The Battle of Solferinoof Victoria and of Sybil and it is well deserved.

The reactions of the heroine, an annoying and icy woman interpreted by the sublime Sandra Hüller, are analyzed with great acuity by a filmmaker specializing in female portraits who notably revealed Virginie Efira. “It’s perhaps the most intimate film I’ve made,” explains the filmmaker on stage. And it’s true, as it offers wonderful roles to the German actress Sandra Hüller and to the other actors in particular Swann Arlaud, Antoine Reinartz and the young Milo Machado Graner, without forgetting the dog who won the palm dog.

If the French director made an oh so political statement on stage, we also feel her commitment in this film which evokes how justice works in France through a breathless suspense. Anatomy of a fall is truly a beautiful film. The filmmaker demonstrates that she is a name and a personality to be reckoned with. This feminist, committed woman and great filmmaker has everything a great.
