What a surprise: Werder Bremen won against Bayern Munich for the first time in 16 years. A goal from Mitchell Weiser was enough for Bremen to keep their narrow lead over time.

Big surprise in Munich’s Allianz Arena: FC Bayern lost the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen 0-1 (0-0). The strong Mitchell Weiser scored in the 59th minute after a brilliant individual performance. National goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had no chance of defending. For Bayern, the defeat means a severe setback in the title fight because they have temporarily lost touch with league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Before the catch-up game on Wednesday against Union Berlin, the deficit grew Bayern have seven points on the still unbeaten Leverkusen at the start of the second half of the season. Given the consistency of the leaders, this is an alarm signal for Bayern and their coach Thomas Tuchel.
