After heavy thunderstorms hit large parts of Germany on Tuesday, the danger will decrease overnight. However, there is also the possibility of heavy thunderstorms in some places on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, there may still be strong thunderstorms in Lusatia and in the eastern low mountain ranges, the DWD announced. During the course of the day, strong thunderstorms with hail, stormy gusts and heavy rain are also expected in some places from the Palatinate to northern Bavaria and in the western Ore Mountains, and in the late afternoon and evening also along the Alb and in the Alps and the foothills.
On Tuesday, strong thunderstorms with severe weather potential hit large parts of Germany. Regions in a wide strip across the middle from west to east were affected. Later on Tuesday evening, severe weather warnings were still in effect for several regions in Thuringia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Several fan zones for the European Football Championship were closed as a precaution. In numerous regions, the fire brigade was deployed to clear up damage, for example from fallen trees.
