Reassuring news, but incomplete. Two months after the start of YouTuber Inoxtag’s expedition to Everest, his high mountain guide Mathis Dumas finally gave the first news from the influencer in an Instagram post published this Sunday. Enough to give indications to his fans, many of whom have been speculating and investigating since the departure of the 22-year-old young man.
A documentary in September
“Return after two months of expedition to Everest. We are both in good health,” first wrote the preparer, also a photographer. They thus seem to have completed their expedition which began on April 10. In the photo, we can see him posing in a tent with the videographer, both equipped against the cold and equipped with a headlamp.
“Inox needs to take a step back from what happened during this adventure by staying away from the networks for the moment. We will keep you informed,” Mathis Dumas then indicated. The man therefore gave no information on the outcome of this ascent, and left his audience without the possibility of knowing whether it was positive or negative. This comes as no surprise, since no announcement is expected to be made until the release of the documentary on this project, which is due to be released next September.
An invitation to distrust
However, that hasn’t stopped many of his followers from trying to get information. For example, a Facebook publication claimed at the beginning of the week of May 20 that Inoxtag had succeeded in this climb. After circulating quickly, the message finally disappeared from social networks in the few hours that followed. “In the meantime, be wary of what you see on the networks,” Mathis Dumas therefore insisted.
Inès Benazzouz, real name, 7.7 million subscribers on YouTube, took on this challenge on February 24, 2023, even though he had no knowledge of mountaineering at the time. He then prepared throughout 2023, climbing Mont Blanc last August. Despite this, many specialists were keen to point out that climbing the roof of the world is particularly perilous.
