The entire evening of the ESC preliminary round is this year under the motto “We help – together for Ukraine”.

On March 4th it will be decided which artists will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Italy. But Friday evening shouldn’t just offer light entertainment. “If war is waged against Ukraine, we cannot celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest and friendship in Europe at the same time without taking a clear position,” explains ARD program director Christine Strobl (50) in a statement. “Tonight, solidarity with Ukraine and helping the people there must come first.”

Therefore, the motto of the program is: “We help – together for Ukraine”. Ingo Zamperoni (47) will be leading from 8:15 p.m. on the first and third programs of ARD, in ONE, on “eurovision.de” and in the media center through a 45-minute program of the same name. Zamperoni will speak to Ukrainians and helpers, among others. Questions like: “How can I help?” are answered. In addition, donations are encouraged.

The preliminary decision follows

“Germany 12 Points – the German ESC preliminary decision” will then follow at 9 p.m. Here it will be seen whether the British-German musician Emily Roberts (28), Felicia Lu (26) from Vienna, celebrity protagonist Malik Harris (24), newcomer Eros Atomus (20), the Koblenz duo Maël & Jonas or Nico Suave & team love will be victorious. The winning act will then represent Germany on stage at the ESC final on May 14 in Turin. Barbara Schöneberger (47) leads through the program. ESC winner Conchita (33), moderator Thomas Hermanns (58) and comedian Bülent Ceylan (46) are expected as guests.
