WDR election: Helge Fuhst wants to be Buhrow’s successor – media

In the WDR election at the end of June, a candidate who has not yet been traded at all could cause a surprise. As a reminder: Incumbent Tom Buhrow, 65, will resign from ARD’s largest broadcaster at the end of the year, six months before the end of his second term in office. The application deadline for Buhrow’s successor ended on May 16th. The favorite is still WDR program director Jörg Schönenborn, an experienced, precise and well-known television station manager with a home in information, who belongs to WDR almost as much as the mouse. For Schönenborn, born in 1964, promotion to artistic director would be the perfect completion of his career. But would he be the man to reform WDR at a time when ARD has to radically reinvent itself?
