Water pistols are among the most popular toys of summer 2024. Even adults often get the urge to use them. But what is important when it comes to water pistols for dad (and mom)? Four models for adults in a mini comparison.

There is no age limit for a big water fight in the outdoor pool, garden or on the beach. On the contrary: hitting mom and dad with a cool jet of water from a safe distance is at least as much fun as splashing down with your brother or sister. 1. Nerf Super Soaker Hydra

Let’s start with the impressive water version from Super Soaker. Known to fans of all ages as the manufacturer of the so-called Nerfs. The Hydra has, exceptionally, only one head, but the body can hold an astonishing 1.9 liters of water. This makes this water gun way ahead in terms of capacity. It is fired using a handle between the barrel and the water tank. Not suitable for small children’s hands, simply because of the feel. Add to that the total weight of just under three kilograms. The range of up to seven meters is OK. Compared to the following models, the Super Soaker Hydra some pressure on the boiler.

Alternative from Nerf: The Super Soaker Barrage with its gigantic 2.4 litre water tank and a maximum range of over eleven meters.

2. SpyraLX Blue

The SpyraLX is something like the Maserati of water pistols. And it works a little differently than classic models. A trigger fires a water projectile from the barrel with every bend of the finger. The manufacturer calls this technology SpyraBlast. A total of 28 shots are possible per water charge. The SpyraLXby immersing the barrel in a water source and pressing the shaft downwards. The device weighs just under two kilograms when empty and is available in blue and red.

3. X-Shot Water “Epic Fast Fill”

The longer it takes to reload, the quicker you’ll get a cold shower in water fights. That’s why this water pistol has been equipped with a quick-sealing technology. The manufacturer claims that the empty water tank (1 liter) is full again within a second and the cannon is ready for use. And the X-Shot Water “Epic Fast Fill” should be accurate from a distance of up to ten meters. With a full tank, however, you can also lug a water pistol weighing around two kilograms through the outdoor pool or garden.

4. Kesser X-Splash (set of 2)

In the double pack from Kesser, the water jet shoots up to ten meters from an orange nozzle. The highlight: the nozzle can be turned into four different positions, similar to a shower head. In addition to the normal focus jet, there is a double and a triple jet. If you want to play it safe, you can opt for the water cannon. Kesser X-Splash holds a maximum of 1.5 liters of water. The air pressure required for shooting must be built up before the water fight using a pump under the barrel. Due to its weight, the X-Splash is more suitable for adults and teenagers.

Despite all the fun, one rule should never be forgotten, even in the heat of the moment: Aiming at the head and especially at the eyes is taboo when shooting with water pistols. The water pressure is so high, and not just with the larger models, that direct hits to the eyes or ears can cause serious injuries.
