1:26 p.m .: US sees “more” Russian soldiers near the border
The United States is still seeing more Russian troops moving to border regions with Ukraine, US Secretary of Defense LLoyd Austin said in Warsaw on Friday.
“Although Russia has announced that it is bringing its forces back to garrison, we have not seen it yet. In fact, we are seeing more forces entering this border region,” Lloyd Austin said after an interview with his Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak.
“We also see them continuing to prepare,” including “moving closer to the border, positioning troops, increasing their logistical capabilities,” Austin said.
